Gen. John E. Coffee of Georgia was an Indian fighter, US Congressman and built the Coffee Road, with Thomas Swain, from Jacksonville, Ga. to Tallahassee, Fl. He was the father-in-law of General Mark Willcox. Both men have counties named for them in Georgia - Coffee Co. and Wilcox Co. (note the dropping of one "l" in the name of the county). It is also said that John Willcox, Mark's father, shared in this honor and that the county was also named for him as well.
