Maj. General Mark Willcox (1799-1852)

The General was a famous legislator and Indian fighter. As a young man he was wounded at the Battle of Breakfast Branch. He was one of the founders of the Georgia Supreme Court. Wilcox County (note one "l" was dropped) is named for him and his father, Capt. John Willcox.

Hello Kathy,,,, Andrew Jackson Burch Sr. was the son of Sarah Ann Willcox and Seaborn W. Burch. Sarah Ann Willcox was one of the daughters of Gen. Mark Willcox. Also Seaborn W. Burch had a half brother Dr. William E Burch that married Susan Willcox who was another daughter of Gen. Mark Willcox.

I was so excited to find the cemetary that Mark is buried in and a lot of other Burch ancestors. Thanks for posting this great site!
