It is said that the parents of little Susie Boyd were passing along the road by old Fort Clark (present-day site of Blockhouse Church near Jacksonville) and she died. They buried her here and her grave started the cemetery in 1819. It is still an active burial ground for folks around Jacksonville, Georgia. According to Bob Hughes, a Boyd descendant, Susie was the sister of James Boyd, who was the father of Capt. Julius Warren Boyd, CSA, and Dr. Augustus Munroe Boyd, Confederate Surgeon.
